Congrats, Damn You!

Well, Chicago finally has a World Series Champion. Unfortunately it's on the South Side of town. As a Cubs fan I am torn. On one hand I'm happy for the city and my Sox-fan friends. Don't get me wrong, I even like some of the Sox players; Paulie, Buehrle, Pods. But on the other hand, I am sick to my stomach. My stupid Sox-fan friends will no doubt rub this in my face forever. And maybe a small part of me is jealous. I want what the Sox have. I want to win. I want to get that pennant. I want a world series. I want the celebrations. Especially after coming so close in 2003, this really hurts. But alas, all I and every other Cub fan have right now is our famous mantra, "Wait 'til next year." Well next year can't get here fast enough. Congrats White Sox! You put it on the board!

Newspapers are supposed to be WATCHDOGS!

As I was looking through the on-line edition of the Chicago Tribune I came across this article about a paper in Newark, NJ. The paper has struck a deal with Newark worth $100,000 to print only good news about the city. An editor at the paper said they had no critical reporters on staff and they had no investigative reporters on staff either. Basically it isn't a newspaper. Journalists are supposed to be the "watchdogs" of government. With this deal, the gov't of Newark can pretty much do what ever it wants to screw its citizens over. I find this absolutely outrageous!

Having no clue is the new "It" thing!

As some of you may know, I have been struggling with finding what it is that I want to do for my career. And I know a lot of you are going through this as well. Real life sucks! But as I have discovered through talking with people and reading this article, I am not alone in my haze of a quest to figure out what I want to do with myself. : ) Traveling the country sure sounds fun. We'll see. It's all up in the air!
